With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Leslie Burton Fillmore, 83, of Bayfield, NB, on January 23, 2020 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.  He was surrounded by his loving family.  Born in Bayside, NB, Leslie was a son of the late Harper and Ida (Estabrooks) Fillmore.

Leslie was an avid bowler and enjoyed music as well as attending local dances.  He loved and was very skilled at carpentry and working with his hands.  He was a lover of all animals big or small.

He loved spending time on the water and had fished for many years. In addition to operating the local Esso on Route 16, Leslie was an active and dedicated member of the community, including having been Chief of the Cape Tormentine/Bayfield Fire Department. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Leslie will be sadly missed by his wife of 38 years, Kaye (nee Mitton); his children, Darlene (Kenneth) Lane, Leslie (Helen) Fillmore, Gwen (Richard) Brine, Dwane (Katie) Fillmore, Randy (Brenda) Fillmore, Janice (Mike) Keighan; three step children, Larry (Tammy) Allen, Darren (Shawna) Allen, Sherry (Daniel) Allen; thirteen grandchildren, and seventeen great grandchildren.  He is also survived by two brothers, Ivan (Lois) Fillmore and Lionel (Carol) Fillmore and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Leslie was predeceased by his first wife Patricia, his brother Harris Fillmore and his grandson Derrick Brine.

Arrangements are under the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home.  A time of visitation will be held from their Port Elgin location, 3 West Main Street, Port Elgin,  on Saturday, February 1, 2020  from 1 pm until the time of the funeral service at 2 pm.  Interment will take place in the Bayfield Cemetery in the spring.  Rev. Catherine Smith officiating.
