It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing
of Margaret "Marg" Lillie
Hicks, age 78, of British Settlement. Marg passed away
surrounded by her loving family at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on
Monday, October 7, 2019.
Born in Point De Bute, NB, she was a daughter of the late
Norman and Christina (Dobson) Goodwin.
Marg started work at Beausejour Motel, then for John Carter,
and finally for 25 years with NB Power. Marg was a very talented and
active lady. She was a wonderful cook, especially her cakes which she
professionally baked and decorated. She was a great musician, singing,
playing piano, guitar,occasionally the fiddle, and along with her
husband was a chartered member of the Tantramar Twirlers. She was a
wonderful seamstress, and enjoyed working with ceramics. She passed on
her love of crafts teaching many children through local churches in
Sackville and Amherst.
She will be dearly missed by her husband Royal Hicks, Mt.
Whatley, children Sherry (Roy) Jones, Memramcook, and Bernard (Deborah
"Debbie"), Amherst; grandson Cole Tower, granddaughter Sarah
(Frank) White; siblings Fred (Jennifer) Goodwin, Point De Bute,
Darlene Morice, Sackville, and Marion Fury, Mt. Whatley; several
nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister Doris
Wheaton.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of
Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street,
Sackville, NB (506-364-1300) where visiting hours will take place from
1 pm until 3 pm, followed immediately by her funeral service at 3 pm,
Friday, October 11, 2019 with a reception to follow. Burial will take
place in the Point De Bute Cemetery later.
Donations in memory of Marg may be made to the Sackville
Memorial Hospital or the charity of your choice.
