Peacefully, surrounded by her loving
family, Edith Louise Long, 89, of
Sackville, passed away at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Saturday,
October 20, 2018. Born in Hillsborough, NB, Edith was a
daughter of the late Edward and Jessie (Snelgrove)
Govang.
Edith was a member of the Salem Baptist
Church and a past member of the Sackville Lioness Club. She
was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who happily kept herself
busy tending to the needs of her family and friends.
Everyone who knew her called her mom. She loved to skate and was
passionate about knitting for everyone.
She will be sadly missed by her sons,
Bill (Diane), Bob (Claudette); two daughters, Gail (Sidney) Baker, and
Jane (Maurice) Theriault, all of Sackville; ten grandchildren,
Christa, Susan, Michael, Patti, Angela, Kenneth, Melissa, Justin,
Matthew, and Melanie; twenty-seven great grandchildren and one
great-great granddaughter; a sister Evelyn Jonah, Hillsborough; a
daughter-in-law, Peggy; a special friend, Armand Therriault, as well
as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased
by her husband Gerald, her son David, and a brother
Wilfred.
Arrangements for Edith have been
entrusted into the care and supervision of Jones Funeral
Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville,
(364-1300). Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 pm on
Wednesday, October 24, 2018. The funeral service will be
held at 2 pm on Thursday from the funeral home. Pastor
Morris Mills officiating. A light lunch and time of
fellowship will follow, all are invited to attend. Following the
service, Edith will be laid to rest alongside Gerald in the Sackville
Cemetery.
