It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Élise Jacob, 98, of Petit-Cap, NB. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Dr. Georges L Dumont Hospital on February 4, 2018.
Élise was well known for her big kisses and tight hugs. She loved everyone for who they were. Her smile would light up a room when any of her great grandchildren would visit. Her memory was one of her greatest assets. She was looked up to as a great mom by many. She loved knitting and loved to observe birds while she ate her meals.
Élise Jacob of Petit-Cap, NB was born on April 3, 1919 in Shemogue, NB, the daughter of the late François Melanson and Léa Richard.
She was predeceased by her husband Adolphe (1986); 3 sons Adolphe Jr. (1943), Roger (1966), Roméo (Minnie) (2016); daughter Noélla (2012); 4 sisters Marguerite (1965), Blanche (1999), Réjeanne (2013), Enna (2016); 3 brothers Hervé (1961) Roméo (1999) and Rhéal (2009).
She is survived by 6 sons, Omer (Norma) Cap-Pelé, Elmo (Jeannette), Gilles (Linda) Aris (Annette), all of Petit Cap, François, Dieppe, Melvin (Debbie), Shediac; 3 daughters, Magella, Dieppe, Léa (Jean-Guy), Petit-Cap, Sylvia (Maurice) Shediac and by many nieces and nephews. 16 grandchildren, Thérèse, Terry, Jacqueline (Chris), Monique (Mario), Micheline (Kevin), Nathalie (Mathieu), Roger (Caroline), Denis, Jacques (Tammy), Nadine (Rhéal), Renée (Daniel), Sylvie (Sébastien), Isabelle (André), Jeremy (Sophie), Mélanie (Manuel) and Daniel (Vicky). 26 great grandchildren, Joline (Mathieu), Julie (Gabriel), Jessica, Caiden (Mickayla), Brent, Yannick (Vanessa) Miguel, Justin, Emma, Joshua, Karine, Ghislain (Dominique), Caleb, Lexie, Félix, Nève, Viviane, Zachary, Mia, Dax, Mika, Olivier, Katherine, Vicky Chloé, and Éli. 3 great great grandchildren, Alexa, Jacob and Olivia. As well as three sisters, Romaine, Halifax, Juliette, Toronto and Clara, Cap-Pele and a brother-in-law, Eddy (Johnson's Point).
Arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Funeral Home, Sackville and Port Elgin, NB. Visiting hours will be held at the Club D'Age D'Or, Shemogue, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated from St. Timothée Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 10:30 am. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Timothée Parish Cemetery or the Centre Palliatif Hopital Georges Dumont.
The family would also like to thank the attending staff at the Dr. Georges L Dumont Hospital and inparticular the Palliative Care Unit for their compassionate and professional care.
