It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Edna Marie Burns, age 80, of Sackville, NB, long time resident of Dorchester.  Edna passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Scotchtown, Cape Breton, NS, she was a daughter of the late Myles and Mae (O'Connor) MacDonald.

Edna married her husband Frank in Cape Breton in 1958, moving to Dorchester in 1962, where they brought up their family and lived most of their lives.  Edna was a devoted member of St. Edward's Roman Catholic Church, Dorchester, where she was involved in numerous committees, including Catechism teacher and choir member.  The past few years, she was a dedicated singer in the St. Vincent's Roman Catholic Church choir in Sackville.

An excellent athlete in her younger years, Edna has been a great supporter of Tantramar Titan sports for the past 40 years and enjoyed watching her four children and then her grandchildren play basketball, volleyball, soccer, football, and hockey.

Edna was extremely proud of all their accomplishments, and was happiest cheering them on, with Frank by her side.

She will be dearly missed by her husband Frank, Sackville; children Linda LeBlanc, Gail (Charlie) LeBlanc, David (Katherine), and Frankie (Lesley), all of Sackville; 11 grandchildren, Craig (Karen), Christopher (Shane), Joshua, Jeff (Autumn), Myles, Joseph, Riley (Sidney), Travis (Lukey), Kelsey, Abbi, and Emma; brothers Elmer (Late Peggy), Halifax, George (Sylvia), England, Raymond (Kathleen), Ontario, and David (Linda), BC; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by infant daughter Janet and infant granddaughter Hannah.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB, from where visiting hours will be held on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm.  Funeral mass will be celebrated from St. Vincent's Roman Catholic Church, Sackville, Father Allison Carroll officiating, on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 11 am.  Committal will take place in the St. Edward's Parish Cemetery, Dorchester.
