Catherine "Kate"
Trenholm, 96, of Malden, occurred on Monday, September
11, 2017, at the Sackville Memorial Hospital after a brief
illness. Born in the County of Argyll, Scotland, Kate was a
daughter of the Late Duncan and Ellen (Robertson) Hutchison and the
widow of the late Driscoll Trenholm.
Kate had been a custodian at the CN
Terminal for 15 years and had also worked for Marine
Atlantic. She was an avid hunter and enjoyed the
outdoors. She was a very hard worker who, together with her
late husband, provided a loving home for themselves and their fourteen
children.
Kate was a devoted mother, grandmother,
great and great-great grandmother.
She be sadly missed by sons Lyman
(Christine), Carl (Muriel), both of Cape Spear; daughters, Mona
(Erwin) Wood, Truro, Darlene (Peter) Pierce, Quispamsis, Isabel
(Arthur) Simpson, Hampton, NB, Margaret Anne (Danny)
Edmunds, Bonnie Arsenault and Elaine Gray all of Moncton,
Betty Primmer, Wainwright, AB; many grandchildren, great, and
great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, as well as her
little dog, "Missy".
Besides her parents, she was predeceased
by her husband, Driscoll, sons, Larry, Harold, and Robert, a daughter,
Norma; granddaughters, Sandra and Kimberly; brothers, Drew,
Andrew, Jack, Duncan, Magnus, George, Edward and Alistair, as well as
her sisters, Sadie, Barbara, Helen, Isabel and Jean.
Arrangements are under the care and
guidance of Jones Funeral
Homes. A time of visitation will be held from
their Port Elgin location at 3 West Main Street, (506-538-2241) on
Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm with a funeral
service at the funeral home on Thursday at 2 pm. Pastor Carman Webb
officiating. Kate will be laid to rest alongside Driscoll in
the Fernwood Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend a special
thank you to Kate's caregivers, Gael Ryan and Christine for their care
and compassion.
Donations in memory of Kate may be made
to the Sackville Memorial Hospital Foundation, Extra-Mural Services
(Sackville), or a charity of the Donor's Choice.
