It is with
deep sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Lloyd
"Willie" Cecil Mitton announce that he passed
away peacefully, after a brief illness, while surrounded by
his family on Friday, September 8, 2017, in Moncton, NB.
Absent from the body, present with the
Lord.
Born in Dorchester, NB, he was the son
of the late Cecil and Helen Julia Mitton.
He
was a faithful member of Main Street Baptist Church. He
served on the Trustee and Finance Committee and was a Teller
and an Usher. Often when new pastors started at
Main Street they asked him to go with them to visit the sick
and shut in to help get them acquainted.
Lloyd loved playing sports but baseball was his
favourite, a passion that continued until today. He
followed each of his sons, grandsons, and great grandsons at
the rink or at the ball field. He loved watching all sports
on television. He worked at the Sackville Tribune Post as a
compositor for 23 years and at the age of 40 he changed careers to
work for NB Power for 20 years until retirement. He
was a hard worker and a good provider for his family.
He is lovingly survived by his three sons, Brian
(Shelley), Michael (Cindy), Mark (Mary) and three daughters, Heather,
Kimberly, and Beverly (Lucien) Leger, all of Sackville; six
grandsons, Shawn Mitton, Nicholas and Nolan (Lindsay Green) Leger,
Marcus (Sarah Kaye) and Mitchell Mitton, Ryan Mitton and one
granddaughter, Cassina (Mathieu) de Leseluc, two great grandsons,
Dylan and Sammy Mitton. He is also survived by his
sisters Emma Bulmer, Alice Siddall, brother-in-law Keith
Phinney, sister-in-laws Rita, Arlene and Helen Phinney as
well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides
his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Ellen Joyce
Phinney, his sisters Audrey McWhirter and Pearl Crossman as
well as numerous brothers and sisters-in law.
Arrangements are under the care and supervision of
Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street,
Sackville (506-364-1300) from where visitation will be held
on Monday, September 11, 2017 from 6-9 pm. The funeral
service, under the direction of Pastor Andrew Swanson, will
be held Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at 3 pm from Main Street Baptist
Church.
The family wishes to express its
heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Graeme Stewart, Dr. Michel D'Astou and
Edith Cote-Leger of the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Heart
Clinic.
In lieu of flowers,
donations can be made to Main Street Baptist Church or a charity of
one's choice.
