The death of our dear mother Alice Roberta Rutledge (Flemming) 90, born on August 23, 1926 in Port Elgin, NB occurred at Moncton Regional Hospital June 3rd, 2017. Roberta was a resident of Port Elgin where she married Douglas Edward Rutledge on August 9, 1946 and raised her family of eight children. The past 23 years she resided in Dorchester nearer family.

She was well known in the community for being an elementary school teacher in the Port Elgin district for over thirty years, from the age of 18 until her retirement in 1984.

Predeceased by her husband Douglas Edward Rutledge and two of her children, Sharon and Gregory and by her siblings John C. Flemming, Doris M. Flemming, Archibald Flemming, her dear sister Evelyn Julia Roach, Frank R. Flemming, Beatrice C. Lewis, Archer K. Flemming, and by her father Roland Hill Flemming and mother Flora Mae (Sainsbury) Flemming.

Roberta is survived by six children Dianne (Gilles) Fournier of Dorchester, NB, Gwen (Fred) Black of Olds, AB, Debby (Tom) Keehn of Port Elgin, NB, G. Carol (Joseph) Marohnic of Thunder Bay, ON, Douglas Rutledge of Dorchester, NB, Sonya (Jerry) Nelson of Kakabeka Falls, ON; daughter in law Loreen Rutledge of Thunder Bay, ON; sisters M. Eileen (Mitchell) Smith of Sackville, NB, and Eliza May (Josh) Purney of Nanaimo, BC, and two sisters-in-law, Margery Evans, Chicago, and Marie Barker, Fairbanks, Alaska.

Roberta Rutledge will be dearly missed by her large family and friends. She was very proud to mention that she had twenty-two grandchildren and thirty-three great-grandchildren with four great-great- grandchildren, then go about naming them all and their ages.

Roberta was a very dedicated and active member of Jehovah's Witnesses for fifty-four years and proud to speak to anyone about her faith and the Bible's hope it gives to mankind.

Our mother will be resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville NB (506-364-1300) from where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at 2 pm. Prior visitation with the family will be on Wednesday from 12 pm until the time of the funeral. Burial will be in the Fernwood Cemetery, Port Elgin.
