It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Henry Joseph Richard, age 78, of Sackville.  Henry passed away Saturday, May 6, at the Drew Nursing Home.  Born in Middle Sackville, he was the son of Dominic and Agnes (Cormier) Richard.

Henry had worked as a Regional Training Co-ordinator for CNR for 35 years prior to his retirement in 1993.  He was an avid musician, playing locally with the Roses and Thorns for many years.  He was a very talented painter of scenics and had a particular passion for portraits of the hockey stars.  He loved sports of all kinds, but in particular, he could quite often be found at the golf course.  He was a loving husband, father and friend with a great sense of humour.  A true gentleman, Henry will be missed by all who knew him.

Henry will be dearly missed by his wife, Marina, of Sackville; a daughter, Michelle (Justin) Malenfant, of Sackville; a sister-in-law, Doreen (Alan) Johnson, of Sackville; a step daughter, Wendy (Len) Ranger, of Riverside-Albert; step-sons, Michael (Jenny) MacNeill, of Franklin, TN, and Greg MacNeill, of St. Paul, AB; step grandchildren, Jade, Caitlen, and Quinn and several nieces and nephews.

Henry was the last surviving member of his immediate family.  Besides his parents, Henry was predeceased by his first wife, Phyllis (Leger) in 1996; his brothers, Albert, John, Leo, and Raymond, and his sisters Mary and Helen.

Arrangements are under the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (506-364-1300) where a time of visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, May 9, 2017.   A funeral service will be held at St. Vincent Roman Catholic Church, Sackville on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at 2 pm with burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Father Allison Carroll presiding.

Donations in memory of Henry may be made to the Drew Nursing Home or the Sackville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
