It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frances Jean Hicks on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the age of 89.

Born in Midgic on October 5, 1927, she was the daughter of Venning and Annie (Estabrooks) Wheaton.

Frances is survived by her three children; Carol (Davis) Richardson and Tim (Lois) Hicks of Sackville, NB, and Connie Noiles of Digby, NS, seven grandchildren; Krista, Scott, Melisa, Matthew, Aressa, Cali, and Shelby, eight great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Frances was predeceased by her husband Calvin Hicks, her son-in-law Raymond Noiles, sisters Betty Elliott, Muriel Ellis, and brother Robert Wheaton.

Frances loved spending time with her family and prepared breakfast for them every Sunday morning.  She was an avid Bingo player and could be found at one of the local bingo halls most Friday and Saturday nights.  She loved to knit, crochet, and quilt, making several special keepsakes for each of her grandchildren.  She and her husband Calvin were dedicated members of the Sackville Lions and Lioness club for many years.  Frances especially loved to travel and never missed an opportunity to hop in the backseat and join each of her children on family trips.  She had a warm smile and loving hug for everyone and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (506-364-1300) from where a time of visitation will be held 6-8 pm on Thursday, May 11, 2017.  A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 2 pm.  Rev. Lloyd Bruce officiating.  Interment to take place in the Midgic Cemetery.

Donations in memory of Frances may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, The Canadian Diabetes Association or the Drew Nursing Home.
