Helena Maria VanZuylen, 88, of Dorchester, passed away suddenly at the Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, August 3, 2016.  Born in Slagharen, Holland, Lena was a daughter of the late John and Anna Maria (Heitbrink) Hendrikson.

Lena came to Canada from Holland in the early 1950's.  She was an avid gardener and loved her flowers. She devoted her life to being a loving mother and homemaker.

Lena will be dearly missed by her son John (Wendy), Saint John; her three daughters, Linda (Rheal), Memramcook, Anne-Marie (Dennis), Cocagne, and Rita, Dieppe;  three grandchildren, Jason (Dawn), Michelle (Mark) and Kathryn (Jake); four great grandchildren, Cameron, Landen, Harlie and Sonny; a brother Hank (Annie) Hendrikson, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Hendricus "Hank" VanZuylen; three brothers and one sister.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (506-364-1300) from where a time of public visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Friday, August 5, 2016.  A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday from St. Vincent Roman Catholic Church, Sackville.  Interment to follow in St. Edward's Parish Cemetery, Dorchester.  Father Allison Carroll presiding.

Donations in memory of Lena may be made to St. Edward's Parish Cemetery, The Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice.
