The death of the Hon. John
Geddes Bryden, 78, of Murray Corner, occurred at the
Westford Nursing Home, Port Elgin, on Sunday July 24, 2016.
Born in Mates Corner, NB, John was a son of the Late John and Kathleen
Bryden.
John graduated from Port Elgin Regional
High School in 1955. He continued his education through
Mount Allison University, University of Pennsylvania, and University
of New Brunswick.
John started his career as a Barrister
following his graduation from UNB, and progressed into several
business ventures before being appointed to the Senate of Canada in
1994, retiring in 2009. He had been an active member of the
Liberal Parties of New Brunswick and Canada.
John took extreme pleasure in his family
time and cherished their accomplishments. John and Lorrie transformed
their shoreline into their family oasis and home. He will be
sadly missed by his wife of fifty-seven years, Lorrie (nee Green);
three children, Jock (Phenny), Tricia (Danny), and Peter (Melissa);
eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a brother,
Roderick.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased
by brothers, Ian, Robert, Donald and Duncan.
He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid
hunter, fisherman, and gardener.
Arrangements are under the care and
guidance of Jones Funeral Homes,
Sackville and Port Elgin, NB. Honouring John's wishes, there
will be no visitation or funeral services.
Donations in memory of John may be made
to the Alzheimer's Society or a charity of the donor's
choice.
