The death of Edgar Alan Dixon, 64, of Upper Cape, NB, occurred at his farm on Sunday, April 3, 2016, after a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer.  Born in Sackville, NB, Alan was a son of the late Edgar and Joyce (Webster) Dixon.

Alan had a passion for cattle, farming, and flowers.  He graduated from Nova Scotia Agricultural College in the 1970's and immediately began working a beef farm.  In addition, he worked with the school board for many years until his retirement in 2014.

Alan had a zest for life, living every day to the fullest. He was a loving and devoted father who had a passion for traveling and a great love for the sea. He enjoyed summers at the shore surrounded by close family and friends. Loving the heat and easy life on the beach, Alan spent his winters with his longtime traveling family and community in Florida.

Alan had a big personality and a contagious smile; he loved to make everyone laugh. His warm smile and kind heart will be truly missed by all.

He will be deeply missed by, his wife and friend, Linda (Baiani), Upper Cape; his children, Adam 'Baby Edgar' (Maggie) Dixon, Sackville, Kelly (Donald) Burbine, Amherst, Sherrie Steeves, Moncton; three grandchildren, Morgan, Jackson, and Nolan, and sisters, Ann (Richard) Hicks and family, Louise (Gaius) Miller and family, and Carolyn Carmichael and family.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (506-364-1300) from where a time of visitation will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.  A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 2 pm.  William Drysdale DLM officiating.

Donations in memory of Alan may be made to the Tantramar Extra Mural.

Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting Alan's online memorial at www.jonesfuneralhome.ca or through the Jones Funeral Home Facebook Page.

It broke my heart to lose you,
but you did not go alone.
A part of me went with you
the day God took you home.
If tears could build a stairway and
heartache make a lane,
I’d walk my way to heaven
and bring you back again.
In life I loved you dearly
and in death I love you still,
in my heart you hold a place
that no one could ever fill.
