Marilyn Ruth
King lived a full and blessed life which came to a
peaceful end on the morning of the 5th of February. Born on the 27th
of September 1932 in Moncton NB to Alfred and Lillian (Shields)
Balser, she grew up in Moncton, graduating from Moncton High School
and working at the CNR.
The Church and faith were always
significant parts of Marilyn's life, and she was very active in the
life and ministry of Central United Church. Therefore, it seemed
predestined that she would meet and fall in love with a young,
handsome United Church ordinand and become a minister's wife. This
indeed did happen while visiting family in the Harcourt, NB area, and
the future minister was Harold Robert King. Thus, the year 1961 was a
banner year for Marilyn. She married Harold R and they were settled in
the Bayfield-Little Shemogue Pastoral Charge. In short order they were
blessed with 2 sons – Harold James and
David.
From this point on Marilyn's life
continued to be full of love, faith and blessings, as she fully
engaged in and supported the ministry of Harold R. She was
able to share her smile and graciousness in Welsford, NB; Halifax, NS;
Oromocto, NB; Westville, NS, and then back to Bayfield. In
the midst of this were many, many trips around the globe: Europe
(Oberammergau), the Middle East, Argentina, Thailand, and Japan (her
favourite) to name just a few.
While she enjoyed her travel, Marilyn's
greatest joy came from her family. She truly was happiest at the
Cottage, full of grandkids, other family and friends. Although
surrounded by 3 men initially, she was later blessed with
extraordinary daughter-in-laws Holly, Martha, and Rhoda. And then
there are her grandchildren – Danielle, Alexander, Erica,
Joshua, Alyssa, Brianna, Hannah and Michael; and her great
grandchildren - Jack and Lily, Jordan and
Andrew.
As the many people who knew Marilyn will
recall she was gracious and loving, accepting and open. Yet, she could
also be very single-minded and determined. All these qualities served
her well in her chosen life, and despite challenges later in life, she
was all of these things to her end.
Arrangements are under the care and
supervision of Jones Funeral
